What is the League?

If you happen to frequent the sites featured to the right of this text, you might have noticed references to something called the League made by other visitors. Somebody may have mentioned the League directly, or perhaps a person who does not at a casual glance appear to be Rutskarn claims to be him. Or maybe you just came here in hopes of winning THE PRIZE. In any case, this is the place where you can find answers to your questions.

Werewolves. The story relates to a game of Werewolves, also known as Mafia. If you are not familiar with it, you can educate yourself here or take a look at this fun and practical introduction. Without detailing the rules, one can just say that it is a game where mischief is one of the most valuable tools, and paranoia - a requisite for survival.

Von Rutskarn's Magical Murder Tour. The particular game in question was run by Rutskarn over at Chocolate Hammer. Set in steampunk A.D., it followed a rabble of assorted members of lower aristocracy who, for a variety of reasons, boarded an airship cruise for a chance to win a fortune, and a group of assassins hired to kill them on their way. A look through the game's archives is highly recommended.

The League. It was not a part of the game, at least not as planned. Early in the game, after a blunder in the very first round shifted the balance heavily to the side of assassins, a group of players assembled into a secret network in hopes of helping aristocrats stand a chance. The network was called the League, and it soon became a character of its own in the game. The full story of the League can be reached by clicking here, here or here.

Nature of Rutskarn. As detailed in the official document, at some point during the existence of the League a discovery was made on the true nature of Rutskarn - namely, that everybody is Rutskarn. The realisation stemmed from an idea that pretending to be one of the players in his own game might be something he would do, but it was quickly generalized to reflect the actual truth.

THE PRIZE is something you could've won by coming here, but you missed it - barely. Better luck next time!
