Global comment thread

This is probably a good place to leave a comment if you have nothing to say about any post in particular but still want to say something - a guest book, if you like. Suggestions and criticism very much welcome, as is general offtopic rambling and stuff that would not, in a perfect world, have to reside in a comment thread, but does anyway.

Incidentally, if you ever wanted to subscribe to comments on this blog through email notifications or a feed, this might be a good choice.

  1. Hi, I'm Sekundaari and this is my...

No, I just want to show my appreciation for your selection of links. It makes me want to add a short introduction to the background of A Not So Brief History, or at least a link to Rutskarn's opening post. It kind of starts in medias res.

  2. Yeah, I wanted to express the same opinion.

The way The League and the brief history are presented right now might be off-putting to people who wandered in from the wilderness of the internet, as it makes us seem like a bunch of idiots constantly playing weird random games and making inside references, which is only partially true.

Put in a page explaining what Werewolves are all about and/or link to Rutskarn's posts explaining and setting up the game, if only so people can read all the detailed character biographies and think it's a game where you actually have to roleplay and shiz.

And get rid of the freaking captcha, it's so annoying!

  3. Oh hey, apparently I can't edit the History page any more - a joy of no-login anonymous hosting. Contacted the site's owner about it, though.

In any case, it is written with the assumption that the reader followed the story on CH: we make many references to Ruts' posts and game threads, but very few actual quotes, so it's hard to follow by default. Editing the whole thing to be a comprehensive story of the game, just told though League perspective, crossed my mind, though I admit the idea would be more attractive if anybody would ever try reading it.

  4. Well I'm sure someone read it...

But a link to the start of the game or character creation in the first mention of the name of the game should be an easy improvement.

Anyway. Would you be interested in testing the waters of Arma multiplayer later today? I'm not sure if I can get my microphone operational, but chat should work.

  5. If you want, you can just create another standalone page, like this one, write the introduction and put the links there, and link it as Gospel According to the League on the sidebar.

    Anyway, have fun playing ArmA.

  6. Arma 2, actually. The name is kind of odd: ArmA was short for Armed Assault, but Arma 2 just is.

At least the abbreviation has an appropriate meaning of its own. Imagine if Call of Duty was just shortened to Cod.

  7. Shortened to "Cod" and consisting entirely of reenactments of the Fish Slapping Dance in various settings? I'd play that.

I'm still waiting for the reply re: editing the PasteHTML page, because that would be a better solution for a more or less standalone document. Making a separate intro page will be the backup plan if editing is really impossible.

  8. Come to think of it, you might want to create a standalone buffer page either way. With it, you can track pageviews and allow visitors (if they show up) to leave comments.

  9. Wow. Quite the guest book.

  10. It is a guest book, just that the guests so far seem to be quite goal oriented.

  11. You still didn't answer, you know...

Also, it's over 4:00 and I posted a Someone-pun on Twenty Sided. These two facts might be related somehow.

  12. As a general rule, I refuse to answer questions that appear to involve references I'm not familiar with.

  13. ...fine, alright. Here. I hope you're happy now.

  14. Weak. I still don't know what THE PRIZE is, but you two are none the wiser.

On a more serious note, you should probably purge the 40 extra comments we've made here.

  15. Indeed, I'm more surprised by the fact that it's an official trailer when nowadays it's fans who produce stuff like that by the bucketload; how far we've come. And no, I did not see the flash.

Well we know what THE PRIZE is, but nobody else seems to be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of it.

  16. I'm amused by that trailer too. All this actiony stuff blowing up, choppers taking off and infantry getting shot, and in the midst of it - James Gastovski gets the phone. Guy's so cool.

Speaking of videos, I really need to learn how to use the attachTo command in the editor. Really.

  17. By the by, the new site logo is quite fancy. But I can't help but think that this blog would benefit of an image of a chessboard, after White's second move in a Fool's mate. That's the Losing Move right there.

  18. @Sekundaari Seconded.

  19. Do you happen to be completely immersed in a game that must remain nameless, bucaneer?
